KEVIN BLASKOWSKI
Kevin Blaskowski joined American Freedom, in 2017, after a twenty-five year career as a collegiate head coach. During his career, he amassed an overall record of 820-508. While at West Texas A&M University, Blaskowski posted a 467-246 record. In 2014, he led WTAMU to the NCAA Division II national title.
Blaskowski has led the AF National 18U team to top finishes in a number of national events. AF National is a member of the Texas Fastpitch League and has competed in both Alliance Championships. They have also competed in the Alliance Super Cup and advanced to Stage Two both years. In the fall of 2022, AF National finished second at the Texas Gold Cup. In summer of 2022, they finished 12th at the Boulder IDT. During the CoVID summer of 2020, AF National finished in the top five at the Triple Crown Texas State Championships and TC Southwest Nationals and claimed the 2020 USSSA National Championship.
In his five years at the helm of the national team, Blaskowski has assisted numerous of his players in moving on to play at all levels of collegiate softball.
While at WT, Blaskowski claimed four Lone Star Conference championships, three LSC Tournament titles, three South Central Regional Championships, two South Central Super Regional Titles and made a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division II College World Series. His teams advanced to the NCAA postseason seven times in 12 years, hosting a regional tournament six times.
Blaskowski was named the NFCA and Captain U National Coach of the Year in 2014. He has been named the LSC Coach of the Year three times and in 2014 and 2016, he was named the NFCA’s South Central Region Coach of the Year.
Blaskowski is considered one of the top offensive coaches in NCAA collegiate softball. His teams have perennially led the country in numerous offensive categories. In 2015, 2016 and 2017, West Texas A&M led the nation in Batting Average, Slugging Percentage, On-Base Percentage and Walks. In 2014, 2015 and 2017, they led the nation in Total Home Runs, Home Runs per game. In 2017, they were second in the nation in scoring, total doubles hit and doubles hit per game.
Blaskowski’s teams hit over 100 home runs in 2014 and 2015, only eight times has a team hit over 100 home runs in NCAA-II. They are the only program to do it twice. Their 98 home runs in 2017 marked the fourth consecutive season they hit over 80 home runs. For nine consecutive seasons, Blaskowski’s teams scored over 400 runs in a season. Including three straight years (2014-16) where they scored over 500 runs each season.
Blaskowski’s disciplined hitting approach also led WTAMU to lead the nation in drawing walks. His 2013 and 2014 teams walked over 300 times each year. They are the only NCAA Division II program to top the 300 mark in a season. In 2015 and 2016, they walked over 290 times.
In his career, Blaskowski implemented three collegiate softball programs, Phillips University, Southern Arkansas University and West Texas A&M University. He led all three programs into the postseason at their respective divisions. In the 2016 NCAA-II national championships, Blaskowski’s WTAMU squad faced Southern Arkansas and it was the first time, in NCAA history, a head coach had been on the field in a national championship event with two programs they implemented.
Blaskowski received a Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in Physical Education from Valley City State University in North Dakota in 1986. He completed a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Emporia State University in Kansas in 1989.
Blaskowski has two daughters, Kaelyn Rose (22) and Kelsey Rhea (19).
